Those Stitches are Stacking Up!
Those little stitches are adding up. This weekend, I caught up with all the Block of the Month (BOM) kits that I have received so far.
Here is the first and second Red and Green Applique BOM that I have finished so far. I blogged about it here and here.
Each day, I can barely wait for Unc or Gordon to run to Kilmichael to collect the mail, hoping the third month's kit has arrived! Stitchin' Heaven in Quitman, TX, has some new BOM's on their website that are making me drool!
Then last night I finished piecing the third and fourth block of my Pieced BOM from Golden Triangle Fabric Center in Starkville, MS. I blogged about it here and here.
Four blocks finished now. One third of the blocks finished! Yippeee! This BOM thing was designed for folks just like me...too busy...did not think I had the time to ever start a quilt, much less make one...afraid to start and fail. Sound familiar?
I also made more progress on the center panel of "Delectible Pathways" by Mary Sorensen.
This was my first-ever applique project that I started during that two-day Mary Sorensen Needle Turn Applique class sponsored last summer by the Mississippi Quilt Association.
I blogged about that heavenly class here. If Mary were to teach anywhere within a day's drive, I would take the same class again, or better, take another class from her! She was THAT good!
I'm in a bit of a quandary about what to do with this center panel that I will soon complete. The background fabric that I purchased for the class was and is an inferior fabric. I did not know any better at that time, but it is easy to find quality quilt-grade fabric from Independent quilt shops, some chain stores, and especially on the Internet. This beautiful pattern and all the work in this design DESERVES better base fabric.
I'm thinking about making this a table runner and starting all over with a much more suitable background fabric to make the detailed wall hanging. Mary's beautiful design and my many stitches deserve quality background fabric, don't you think?
In June, I will be taking a two-day class in hand-quilting, sponsored by the Mississippi Quilt Association. This little table runner might make just the perfect starter project for hand quilting!
How are you coming on your BOM's or other quilting projects? I'd love to see your work! Please share a photo with me!

Lovely WIPs! I agree with you. If the background fabric is not to your standards, make this a lovely table runner and buy new background for the quilt. Good luck!

Thanks, Debby! I can't wait to start the Robyn Pandolph BOM that is new on your Stitchin'Heaven website...but there are a few more that are seducing me as well!
Rachell: I was honestly one of those who never thought I could make a whole quilt, but since last summer and that one little applique class, I've gotten a whole new perspective! YOU CAN DO IT TOO! Find an easy BOM, maybe from a local quilt shop where you can get help if you need it, and ENJOY the learning process. The challenge is what grabs me!
June, how FUN that you and I will be taking a hand-quilting class this summer at the same time! I just wish it could be the same class! I'm looking forward to seeing my new quilting friends at the two-day "gathering". There are so many interesting classes being offered at that gathering here in Mississippi...that I wish I could be two or three people!

All of your work is fabulous and I love seeing the process. I'm taking a hand-quilting class in June, too, because I haven't a clue about it and want to learn to do it properly.
