Drooling Over "Simply Delicious" Piece O' Cake!
This quilt is "Simply Delicious" by Piece O' Cake designers Becky Goldsmith and Linda Jenkins. As I understand it, the inspiration for these lovely fruit designs were botanical prints from around 1800.
Actually, this pattern came out in 1996, but I first saw it online shortly after taking my first applique class last summer. Finding a copy of the pattern to purchase has been another of those "Easter Egg Hunts" that I so adore!
So I found (online) a fabric shop in California, Material Possessions Quilt Shop. that had offered this as a Block of the Month (BOM) project. They no longer offered the BOM, but those wonderful people were able to dig around and find a left-over set of block kits that I could buy!
Choosing the background fabrics required me to do some stash building. *happy, big grin*
I've had almost as much fun choosing background fabrics for the pieced background as I have enjoyed sewing the design!
Thankfully, the vendors at the June Gathering of the Mississippi Quilt Association had just the fabrics I needed, so I was able to start this beauty after returning home from that two-day orgy of inspiration and creativity.
Well, I had barely started the Lemon block when I discovered that Piece O' Cake was once again offering the set of patterns for "Simply Delicious" on their website. It had been out of print for a number of years. (The photo of the entire quilt is from the Piece O' Cake website.)
Tonight, to reward myself after a busy and successful day working on more than a few projects, I propped up with pillows and two clean Westies and made huge progress on the Peach block.
You will probably see it in a day or so. Lots more to share with you!
I promised Gordon I would get to sleep before 2 a.m. That gives me nine eight minutes to fall asleep! LOL
Life can be just too exciting to allow one to sleep!

You can download the pattern from the Internet!
If you start making this pattern, please share your progress with me. It is more fun to make a pattern with another person. I need to get back to work on this particular pattern!
You have encouraged me!
Thank you for reading my blog....
Fondly,

Thanks, Ladies! I have just a couple of leaves to finish on the Peach Block which I expect to do this afternoon (as a break from work). Then I get to finish the fourth Red and Green BOM from Debby's shop, Stitchin' Heaven! Debby, we are headed your way later this summer, so I am looking forward to meeting you in person!
Gee, how did I live 44 years without discovering applique????

Hi Penny...this is a wonderful quilt. Becky Goldsmith visited my shop just after this quilt was released and taught it as a class. She is quite a wonderful applique teacher.
