Great information about the value of leaving historic objects in original condition. Now you need to do a webcast on the importance of the toile or copperplate print. It looks to be the wonderful copperplate called The Apotheosis of Washington. I probably spelled it wrong, but this was a very famous and popular French toile of the period. It will help date the quilt. I wish we could see close-up views with the family history etc... Sorry, you know me--I always want more about these fabulous textiles! Thanks!!!
