Gordon and I were in Tupelo, Mississippi, last night to give a program. Don't worry, I have oodles and oodles of quilt pictures to share with you, so stay tuned!
Gordon patiently drove around the streets downtown in Tupelo, letting me hang out the passenger window taking pictures, and sometimes he got out and walked to take a picture I wanted. It was Heavenly!
So here are some of the night lights that I just HAD to capture on film. Personally, I could have stayed several more hours driving around the deserted streets of Tupelo last night taking more pictures, but we had several hours of driving to get home.
So if I took time to Google, would I find that Fender guitars have some connection to Elvis? I just love old advertising murals, especially when they are in their natural, faded, decayed state (not repainted).
The rest of the old mural said "CAFE". Anyone know the name of the old cafe that occupied this building? I love tidbits of history like that.
My Facebook friends told me that this neon sign was for a great restaurant in what once was some stables (think horses) in Tupelo! That is definitely on my list of places to eat in Mississippi!
Yes, I am nuts about Neon signs...not the mass produced neon signs, but the little custom signs one finds in one's travels.
Then old movie theaters that have been rescued and repurposed. I'm nuts about them also, and try to grab pictures everywhere we go. Sometimes that is hard when Gordon is in race-car mode, but last night he was patient about letting me snap pictures to my heart's content, and I enjoyed every moment!!!
Now settle back and enjoy these pictures of painted guitars, street art around Tupelo. Belzoni has painted catfish, Meridian has painted carousel horses, Jackson has a different kind of painted catfish, Tupelo has guitars (for birthplace of Elvis).
I collect photos of the street art different towns promote. If I have not blogged and posted pictures of the street art I've collected so far, I will try to find the pictures and post about them soon. Gee, NEVER enough time to share with you all that I want to share!
We did not get all the guitars photographed. Hopefully we will be in Tupelo again at night. I thoroughly enjoyed the night photography!
