The only way I will every be able to tell the stories of these eight little amazing Westie rescues is to share little snippits of the story... in between work deadlines.
I adore this photo. It makes me smile every time I see it.
I keep hearing, "Going to the Groomers....and We're Gonna Get Pretty"....sung to the music of "Going to the Chapel and we're Gonna Get Married".....
TEN little Westies loaded in the van with Mama Penny planted at the opening between the two front seats so that Ten Little Westies would not try to climb all over Papa Gordon while he was driving.
(Quick Tail Re-cap: We had adopted Annie and Mackie in the past. They are both from the Westie Rescue network of volunteers. This farm is their Forever Home.
(The eight rescues about which this series of stories is written, came from one large-scale puppy breeder somewhere in Mississippi.
(It was just as easy to take ten Westies to the Vet or to the Groomer as it was to take only the newest eight; thus, you will read "ten" at times and "eight" at times. Clear as mud, huh? *wink*)
The trip to the groomer was ten days to a couple of weeks after their September 2nd rescue. You know how time and events get compressed in one's mind...
The little dogs had ridden back to the farm from the breeder's place, a three to four hour drive.
They had ridden to the vet, a 30 minute drive each way. A few had returned to the vet for follow up surgery or treatment. I think there was a third trip to the vet in there.
So by the time we loaded up to travel 3.5 hours to the wonderful Groomer in Vicksburg, traveling in a van was all one big exciting adventure to the Little White Dogs (LWD's). (You will be hearing ALL about this wonderful groomer who donated her time and skill and experience and wisdom to
this little group.)
In these pictures you can see the stained coats, even after two or three baths. The poor little eight rescues still had a horrible stench, even after the baths and rinses with an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse that we brew up with Rosemary tea and Lavender Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil and Tea Tree Essential Oil.
It is fabulous stuff for dogs AND humans! I've been asked to share the recipe many times, and I will share it here as well... but for now, I MUST get back to work.
We have to ship a new porcelain brooch design tomorrow, and I am making final tweaks to each brooch before they go in the kiln tonight.
LOADS more fun pictures to come...
My two little westie boys, Jacks and Tavi (short for McTavish)a name too long for a baby boy who gets in sooo much trouble) love hearing about your rescued puppies!
