Westie or Polar Bear

New designs are nerve wracking, whether sculpture or embroidery or anything else.

You think you have stitched a Westie, but a month later, when you look at the piece again, it looks like a polar bear. You are too deep into the process at first to see the finished result objectively.

Is that a Yorkie or a raccoon? LOL A Cairn or Norwich Terrier? (I may have too much hair for a proper Yorkie...hmmnnn...)

This is supposed to be a Yorkie snuggled down in a pillow and a Westie begging for his bowl of food. 

There will be adjustments to each new design as  I stitch it a few times and design "matures".

 

 

Return to Porcelain

My last remaining kiln is dead. I test fired it with a piece of porcelain earlier this week. My four kilns bought between 1993 and 1995 were WARRIORS! (If every machine we use lasted as well as those kilns, this would be a much healthier country!)

Anyway, I need to raise money to finish buying a new high-fire porcelain kiln.  I have put down about a quarter of what I need.

To raise the rest of the money, I am searching the house and studio for porcelain I made for my own collection or to have on hand to give as gifts. Unless noted, everything I list on Etsy will be mint-in-box.

The porcelain ornaments and brooches (maybe tiles and vases) will be in my Etsy store. I am happy to combine shipping, so expect a refund of shipping charges if you buy more than one piece. I have not figured out how to set up the Etsy store to combine shipping charges for multiple purchases.

Once my new kiln is paid for and set up, I can start sculpting and firing all the new designs in my head.

The Lord continues to restore me and renew my mind. Thank You, Lord!

My Tea Party Mini Quilt Design now on T-shirts, etc!

I've been so moved at the response to my new design, Tea Party Mini Quilt Pattern!

At least one of you has told me that your husband will be carrying a big flag/banner made from my design in Monday's Labor Day Parade. Oh, I HOPE to see a picture of that!

Others of you are making items to sell. You graciously asked permission first because my pattern did not have any statement preventing it. Here's my thinking on that: If you are making this design and putting it on jackets or making mini quilts, etc, you are not only spreading the word about our concern for this country, but you are also fueling the small business economy. Go for it!

I will soon be sharing photos from the folks who have bought my pattern and have already made something from it...ahhh the joy of a downloadable pattern.

Tonight I want to show you just a few of the items Gordon has chosen on Cafe Press to proudly display this design. It is the same picture as the quilt picture above, so if you are wearing a shirt or carrying a tote with this design, it will almost look like you are wearing a quilted design.

This is how Cafe Press works. They print your order when they receive it. Print on Demand. Gordon and I receive a small royalty from each of our designs you purchase.

When that "royalty" adds up to $25, Cafe Press cuts us a check and sends it to us.

What I plan to do is to give a percentage of that royalty money back to the Tea Party Organization. Right now, some Tea Party organizers are researching who/what/when/where to allow me to do that.

So, this is a subtle design, "Sometimes you have to spill a little Tea", that you can still wear or show off or mail even if you are not into quilting or into making paper signs from my pattern!
